Monegros

As a case study, I took the Monegros Music Festival as a client, aimed to enhance their online presence by redesigning their website to better serve their thousands of global attendees. During the length of the project I analyzed top festival websites, UX trends, and e-commerce best practices to build a user-centered, intuitive digital experience.

Role:

UX/UI Designer

Industry:

Music Festivals

Duration:

2 weeks

Challenges

  1. Complex Feature Integration: Implementing robust features such as a user space and direct access to tickets.

  2. User-Centric Design: Designing an intuitive interface that caters to users with various levels of experience with music festival sites, from beginners to advanced festivalgoers.

  3. Scalability: Ensuring the app can handle a growing user base and future updates without compromising performance.

  4. Accesibility: Including features which tend to users with accessibility needs.

My Approach

  1. Discovery Phase

  • Desk Research: Followed a competitor analysis, conducted several in-depth interviews and completed a thorough market analysis to understand the current ux trends and user needs.

  • Key elements of the future ux: After pouring all the data extracted from the interviews into a map of user joys and frustrations, I came up with 6 aspects to be addressed by the future UX. All these features follow the syntactic structure “When, I want and In order to”.

  • User Persona Development: Created two opposite and detailed user personas to guide design and feature prioritization. To complement this, I further understood the users through an empathy map. Lastly, I conducted a CJM, segmenting the users' interaction with the website into 3 stages of pre-service, during service and post-service.

  1. Design and Development

  • UI/UX Design: Designed a clean and intuitive interface with easy navigation and visually appealing graphics to motivate users.

  • Feature Implementation: Through the Kano Model I organized the brainstorming of ideas for the website into four quadrants: “Attractive”, “One Dimensional”, ‘Indifferent’ & “Must-Be”. Thanks to this I developed and integrated key features like strong CTA buttons, a complete user guide or a separate section for a fast and easy access to tickets.

  • Escalated Development: Before diving into the design preferences, I tested my low-fi wireframes through flow charts to check the actual navigation between screens. This allowed me to detect problems that were not projected in the content tree.

  1. Testing and Iteration

  • User Testing: Conducted extensive usability testing with target users to gather feedback and refine the app interface and functionality.

  • Performance Optimization: Implemented optimizations for speed, reliability, and security to ensure a seamless user experience.

Results

The responsive website was completed up to the first stages of ux ui design. In a real life scenario it's expected to garner positive feedback from users and achieve high ratings once live. The app's intuitive design and comprehensive features are set to contribute to its popularity among music festival enthusiasts.

Future Plans

  1. Continuous Improvement: Plan regular updates based on user feedback and evolving industry trends to enhance the website's functionality and user satisfaction.

  2. Expansion: Explore app and email integrations to keep users up to date with the latest news.

Conclusion

The project originated with the aim of reformulating and improving the user experience of the Monegros Music Festival website. After a development focused mainly on the UX, we can say that the final prototype has a simple and intuitive navigation that we missed in a first diagnosis of the current website. The final website works for both mobile and desktop formats, although it was initially designed for mobile and was later scaled up. However, it is expected that more users will access it from cell phones due to the urgency of buying tickets.
